The University Council, in an ordinary session held this Thursday afternoon (28th) decided to extend the deadline for suspension of in-person activities at Ufes until June 30th, as a way to prevent the contagion by the new coronavirus.
The previous decision, signed (ad referendum) by rector Paulo Vargas in April, had extended the deadline for reorganization of administrative and academic activities, with suspension of in-person activities until May 30th, 2020.
“There is no estimate of when we could return to in-person activities, considering the current scenario of increasing cases of Covid-19. The Council decided to extend the suspension and we will continue to assess the evolution of the pandemic”, the rector says.
Another decision of the Council was that, when there is a possibility of return to in-person activities, the academic community will be notified 15 days prior to the return.
Mourning
In the ordinary session held this Thursday, the University Council stated that Ufes declared mourning for the victims of Covid-19. For this reason, the flag of the university will be flown at half-mast, in a ceremony to be held in the next days.
According to information from the Covid-19 Panel of the State Government, Espirito Santo had 12.375 confirmed cases and 511 deaths.
