International Office actions during the Covid-19 prevention period
During these challenging times, the International Office (SRI) has been committed to keeping its mission of promoting and managing internationalization at Ufes.
Administrative services: staff members of the International Office are working remotely, to keep the administrative routines going, and providing services to the community by email and social media.
Students who are studying abroad: the Division of Outgoing Mobility has contacted the 34 students of Ufes who are studying abroad (through programs managed by SRI), to check their status and their intention/possibility of return to Brazil. Only 3 students decided to return to Brazil and SRI is monitoring them. This division is in touch with students who decided to stay abroad, available to support them whenever possible.
In addition, the Division of Outgoing Mobility is in contact with our partner institutions to constantly access the scenario, in order to decide about the calls that are open for future possibilities for mobility. Information on this subject is being constantly updated in our website.
International students at Ufes: the Division of Incoming Mobility has contacted the 98 international students, from 33 countries, who are currently studying at the 4 campuses of Ufes (Alegre, Goiabeiras, Maruípe and São Mateus), in order to keep them informed about the current situation and recommendations for our region. This division has created WhatsApp groups for international students and provided a mobile number for emergencies. Until now, only one student decided to return to her country (Germany).
Cooperation agreements: the Division of Cooperation Agreements continues with the procedures related to ongoing agreements, which are being processed in digital systems, and contacting our international partners to notify them about the situation in Brazil. In addition, this division has been supporting other divisions of SRI, due to high demand in relation to information and activities.
Languages: The Division of Languages has supported the other divisions of SRI, with the translation of communications and contents for the international audience (internal and external to Ufes), in English, Spanish and French.
The International Office is trying to notify all members of the academic community about its activities, as well as external audiences, by updating its website in Portuguese and English, and by sending notifications to our international partners.
The SRI team is sure that, although Covid-19 has created great limitations, we will leave this situation behind (stronger than ever) and we will continue with our project of a public university (for free), with high quality, known at the national and international levels, with the integration of teaching, research and services, for the good of society.
